Federal Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research Kim Carr has announced funding totalling $67 million for 219 new research partnerships under Round 2 for 2011 of the Australian Research Council's Linkage Projects scheme.

 

The Linkage Projects scheme funds collaborative projects between University researchers and Partner Organisations, and aims to encourage and develop long-term strategic research alliances between higher education organisations and other organisations, including industry and end-users.

 

The successful partnerships were selected from a record 535 proposals. There are 436 Partner Organisations involved with these projects and they have pledged a total (cash and in-kind) of $139.1 million.

 

Monash University won the highest number of awards, with 24 applications successful out of a total of 42 submitted, attracting ARC funding totalling $6.9 million and partner contributions totalling $14.1 million.
